about

The sound experimentation work Ata mārie (good morning, in Maori), is a mixture of different recordings made in New Zealand, from sounds of the river, different types of birds, cicadas, a story and songs, to which were added, leaf rattles, percussions, and other synthesizer sounds. The intention of this experiment is to recreate a landscape / time, such as around the Whanganui River. Whoever listens to the audio will be immersed in that mystical climate of ritual, taking the place of the person who is being "awakened" by an indigenous Maori in a new dawn, with the help of his voice and the birds. The voices used correspond to the reading of a children's story that talks about the gods of their culture, but the intention is that these words are heard as mere sound frequencies. This awakening is that of a person who lived in the city and was transported to that space / time by the song of some girls (a fragment of popular song from Samoa) who were at the door of a market.
